We are proud to serve the greater Los Angeles community and provide much needed support and services to its inner city and underserved communities. We are lucky to have an amazing team as the catalyst of our organization. With great people, we can do great work.
Our Vision
More Than An Athlete (MTAA) is a 501 (c) 3 that facilitates a variety of services specifically for at-risk youth and young adults ranging from 7 to 24 in Los Angeles County. The purpose of this program is to positively impact the lives of today’s youth through sports and education to compete and succeed in life.
Turmel Woods, Founder discovered a need within the community to heighten at-risk youth and young adult abilities to succeed both within and beyond their current environment: through sports principles and collaborative partnerships with experienced athletes, teachers, mentors and coaches. Over the years, MTAA has been privileged to work with hundreds of at-risk youth and young adults throughout Los Angeles County, thus fostering their athletic and academic careers.
